America's First Dirt-free Campground!

Yes, it is true! The USFS has declared Red Feather campground at Little Grass Valley Reservoir the first dirtless campground in America. How can this be, you ask.................Well, the Kaye family left for home on September 1, 2008 and took ALL the dirt with them. They packed it, wore it, and even ate it. So, next summer, join us for a clean campout!

Our VERY CLEAN girls.
Cute dirty faces and mud body painting....who could resist?

We had a great time as a family escaping the "noise of life" and getting down and dirty! (I had a few withdrawals over leaving the phone, computer and especially the shower) It was quite a bit cooler and windier than when we went for the 4th of July, so we didn't have as much water play time, but we still had a great time. The kids were very creative in keeping themselves busy! Jared and Andrew were determined to move a boulder from the ground. When I asked them why they were trying, they just said they wanted to. I guess it's a guy thing............to conquer! Well, that they did! It was very fun to watch them work for at least an hour on trying to move this rock, just to say they did! Determination! Zach spent a lot of time on his skateboard and reading. Good relaxation for a young man! He didn't even want to go on the waverunner, I'm not sure why................memories of last time maybe???

Andrew and Jared hard at work to move that boulder, just because!

Mark enjoys a ride on the waverunner

Daredevil Mollie stands up on the tube while being pulled. Gotta keep up with big brothers!

Jared be nimble, Jared be quick, Jared jump over the firepit

A little mountain music courtesy of the Polzak brothers. Saturday evening fireside.

Out of the mouths of babes:
Mollie: "When I grow up, I'm going to build a campground that is all cement. Only holes for trees and plants. Oh, and it will have a playground too." Mark: Isn't that a city park?"

When the campfire is going, we tease each other that smoke follows beauty. Well, this morning as we were sitting around the campfire, the smoke going began to float toward me. Mollie's quick little mouth blurted out. "Mom, just take your hat off, and the smoke won't follow you!" I love you too Mollie.

SMORE TIME!

The highlight of the weekend for me was Sunday evening, after dinner, Mark watched all the kids so I could have a little quiet time to myself. I went for a walk for about an hour and just pondered the beauty of our Heavenly Father's creation and His love for us.

It amazes me day in and day out how much he blesses our lives. Although I can't always say I love being a mother, the blessings of that calling outweighs the trials in every way. Being a wife to a wonderful husband is another one of the greatest blessings. He cares so much for our family and is so incredibly patient with me. Some days I know I don't deserve such a great man, but he continues to stand by me. I love you Mark! Another wonderful blessing that I enjoy daily is that of friendship! You know who you are, and thank you for being you! Lastly, (and certainly not the least) I am SO very grateful for the Gospel in my life, for the guidance, peace, and meaning that it gives each and every day.
